Why is it not profitable to share glasshouses in the Netherlands

In Dutch greenhouse gardening, more than 90 percent of greenhouses are glass greenhouses, among which only 6 percent produce vegetables, but occupy 24 percent of the market share. Why can large-scale glass greenhouses make profits in the Netherlands, but it is difficult to make profits in China?

First, a sound industrial chain system

Has formed in the Netherlands, glass greenhouse horticulture industry including greenhouse engineering construction (intelligent design, manufacture, installation, etc.), greenhouse gardening supplies industry (containers, thin films, seed, seedling, fertilizer and nutrient solution, packaging, etc.), greenhouse agricultural machinery and planting specifications, product standards and other modern management and marketing mechanism, and perfect system of information system, science and technology team, The coordinated development and close cooperation of all links in the system ensure that the greenhouse can produce high-yield, high-quality and low-cost vegetables and fruits, and also create conditions for a smooth market for sales.

Second, the greenhouse planting area concentrated distribution is reasonable

Greenhouse vegetable growing areas are concentrated in specific areas, and the area is relatively large, each production area is generally more than 50,000 square meters, and each greenhouse planting vegetable varieties are single. The main cultivated varieties are cucumber, tomato, bell pepper, eggplant, mushroom these several. And the planting proportion of each variety basically remains the same, so as to avoid unnecessary vicious competition.

At the same time, large-scale planting can improve work efficiency and yield per unit. The average yield of tomato in the Netherlands is 496 t/hm2, which is the highest level in the world. The average vegetable production per labor force is 17,894.5 kg (the world average is 431.0 kg/ person).

3. Stable sales channels and stable market prices

Dutch vegetables are very popular in European and American markets because of their high quality products, strict classification, high yield and low price. More than 80% of the bell peppers produced in the Netherlands are exported, with about 50% going to Germany, followed by the UK at 17% and the US at 8%; About 80% of cucumbers are exported, 70% of them to Germany, followed by the UK, France and Scandinavia; More than 90% of aubergines are exported through auctions to Germany, France and the UK.
